Before purchasing a horse rug it is important to measure your horse to ensure a correct fit.

 

An ill-fitting rug can lead to rubbing and muscle strain as your horse tries to make itself comfortable.

 

It is very easy to measure your horse for a rug:

 

1. Measure from the centre of the chest along the length of the body in a straight line to the back of the rump.

 

2. Measure from in front of the wither along the length of the body following the spine in a straight line to the dock.

 

3. Measure from the centre of the back to below the belly in a straight line towards the ground.

 

Taking a little extra time before you buy ensures the rug you choose fits your horse comfortably and is less likely to tear or strain.
